Prepare your set up (before 12 January 2024)

1. Check that your email is registered with the automatic feedback system: send an email to learn@mpsd.mpg.de with subject line “demo”.

   If you get a response back that the attachment was missing, then you are all set and the system knows your email address. That’s all we want to check for now.

   If you get a response back that your email address is not known to the system, please forward this response to ssu-cs@mpsd.mpg.de so that this can be rectified.

   Please use the official email account of your institution here if at all possible (and note that Gmail accounts do not work at all for our purposes).

2. We ask participants to install Python on their own laptops/computer. We recommend the Anaconda distribution (see these instructions). Please install Python 3.8 or more recent.

   As described in those instructions, you can test your installation as described here. .

3. Read through the section on the communication tools we will use for the remote delivery of this course.

4. Install Zoom on your computer. You can connect to the Zoom session (details should have come to you by email) to test your set up anytime.

5. Log in to Zulip. You should have received an email invitation to join Zulip.

Set up support session Friday 12 January 10:00

We offer a online support session to help you set up everything as described above.

If you have managed to work through the set up items, then there is no need to join.

If you have difficulties, then try to raise your issue on Zulip, and/or attend the setup session on Friday 10:00 (German time) in the usual Zoom room.
