Girls' and Boys' Day at DESY Hamburg 2024

Finally it's time again: On April 25, 2024, DESY in Hamburg will be taking part in the nationwide Future Day, better known as Girls' and Boys' Day.

Aims of the DESY Girls and Boys' Day
On Girls’ and Boys’ Day, 50 students will have the opportunity to get to know everyday working life in areas that they may not have considered for themselves before. This day of action for gender-sensitive professional orientation aims to contribute to expanding the traditional, gender-specific range of possible professions for women and men. Therefore, girls get to know technical and scientific workplaces at DESY, while boys get to know, for example, the personnel department and other administrative groups.

Program
As part of the program, the students learn more about our research center in an entertaining introductory event, experience a campus tour, have lunch together and then get to know a work area at DESY in more detail with a mentor.

Registration
The registration period for students from grade 5-7 has ended on March 1. We have now sent all confirmations and rejections to the e-mail addresses provided. Now we are looking forward to the DESY Future Day 2024!

Children of DESY employees
Children of DESY employees can spend their Girls and Boys' Day at DESY on April 25, 2024, provided that DESY employees have talked to their superiors. This means that the students can take part in the introductory event (DESY lecture hall, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.) and will then be picked up from the lecture hall by their relatives to spend the day with them at DESY. Children of DESY employees do not need an official place at the DESY Girls and Boys' Day.

Looking for mentors
The highlight of the Girls’ and Boys’ Day for the students every year is the visit to their mentors. We want to show DESY’s diversity and are therefore looking for colleagues from all areas of DESY, i.e. from science, technics and administration. If you show your own child your workplace at DESY, you can also volunteer to become a mentor. If you want to support us as a mentor, we look forward to receiving your email at zukunftstag.hamburg@desy.de. We are also happy to answer any questions by phone.
