Goals of DESY Future Day
DESY Future Day aims to give students the opportunity to learn about everyday working life in fields they may not have considered before. This action day for gender-sensitive career orientation aims to help broaden the traditional, gender-specific spectrum of possible careers for women and men. Girls at DESY therefore learn about technical and scientific jobs, while boys learn about the human resources department and other administrative groups, for example.
Program
The program includes an exciting introductory event where participating students learn more about our research center, take a tour of the campus, have lunch together, and then get to know a work area at DESY better with a mentor.
In order to make the program age-appropriate, our offer is aimed at students in grades 5–7.
Children of DESY employees
Children of DESY employees, or children known to DESY employees, can spend their Future Day at DESY. This requires prior agreement between the DESY employee and their supervisor. This means that the students can take part in the introductory event (DESY lecture hall, 9 to 10 a.m.) and then be picked up from the lecture hall by their relatives to spend the day at DESY with them.
They do not need an official place at the DESY Future Day and do not need to register with us separately.
