Vacuum Cushions
Vacuum cushions and mattresses are applied in medical ambulance cars. If bone fractures need to be immobilized until further treatment, e.g. an arm is put into a specially shaped vacuum cushion filled with pellets, and hence air is pumped out of it. The cushion then tightens closely around the extremity and becomes stable and fixed.
