2nd Joint ECFA/DESY Study on Physics and Detectors for a Linear Electron-Positron Collider

24 March 2001 at DESY
Mini Workshop to plan next ECFA-DESY Study

Meetings of working groups
    Start: 24 March 14:00
    End: 24 March 17:30
    Place: DESY

Goal:
The main job for the afternoon will be to address the question "what work is now needed?", on physics, on the detectors and on the machine-detector interface?

Format:
Plenary presentations and discussions

Description:

To all participants in the 2nd ECFA/DESY Study on Physics and Detectors for an e+e- Linear Collider.

Many of you are working hard to complete the TDR for TESLA, and the LC Notes which will support it. But our work cannot stop there. Our feasibility studies are incomplete and many of the R&D programmes are just starting. ECFA has therefore approved an extension to our Study which will last until Spring 2003 - by which time we hope that collaborations will be forming to make proposals for experiments.

The details of how the extended Study will run are just being worked out, but I have been asked to chair the organising committee again. You are invited to join us on the afternoon of March 24 at DESY, after the TESLA Colloquium, to help us make plans.

The main job for the afternoon will be to address the question "what work is now needed?", on physics, on the detectors and on the machine-detector interface? If you have ideas for contributions to the discussion please email them to myself and Rolf Heuer so that we can structure the agenda to include the topics you suggest.

The workshop will start at 14.00 hrs and last until about 17.30. Details of the agenda will be posted on the web - as it develops in response to your replies.

David Miller, Rolf Heuer

Agenda:

14.00 Charge to the Study D.J.M.
   Including questions to everyone:
Working group structure - amalgamations? new groups?
              Relation to R&D collaborations?
              Relation to CLIC?
              Relation to US and Asia?
              Format and number of workshops?
