Manuscripts (the original and 2 copies) should be written in good English. They should be typed throughout with double line spacing and wide margins on numbered, single column pages.
The title page(s) should contain the article title, author(s) names and affiliations, the text of related footnotes and the text of the abstract. The author to whom the proofs should be sent must be indicated with her/his full postal address, telephone number, fax number and/or e-mail address. One to four classification codes (PACS-1998, available are lists in alphabetic and numeric order) and up to six keywords of the author's choice should be given below the abstract.
Tables should be typed on separate sheets at the end of the manuscript. In addition to its serial number, each table should have a sufficiently detailed caption to explain the data displayed in it.
Figures should be numbered and their captions listed together at the end of the manuscript.
References in the text to other publications should be numbered consecutively within square brackets and listed together at the end of the text.
Formulae in the manuscript should be clearly written or typed with particular consideration given to characters that maybe misinterpreted.
Illustrations
The publisher requires a set of good quality line figures and original photographs to produce the printed figures.
Line drawings should be original laser printer or plotter output or drawn in black India ink, with careful lettering, large enough to remain legible after reduction for printing.
Photographs should be originals, with somewhat more contrast than is required in the printed version. They should be unmounted. The top side of a photograph should be marked if necessary.
Colour figures can be printed in colour when they are judged by the Editor to be essential to the presentation. The publisher and the author will each bear part of the extra costs involved. Further information concerning colour illustrations and the cost to the author is available from the publisher.
After acceptance
Page proofs are sent out to authors in order to check that no undetected errors have arisen in the typesetting or file conversion process. At the proof stage only printer's errors may be corrected. No changes in, or additions to, the edited manuscript will be accepted.
Copyright transfer. In the course of the production process the authors will be asked to transfer the copyright of the article to the publisher. This transfer will ensure the widest possible dissemination of information.
Electronic manuscripts
Only the final accepted manuscript can be submitted on disk, along with a paper-printed version which is identical to the file. Please label the disk with your name, and mention which word processor you have used.
The disk should contain the electronic version of the manuscript together with the hard copies of the text and figures. It is the responsibility of the authors to ensure that the version on disk exactly matches the hard copies. No deviations from the version accepted for publication are permissible without the prior and explicit approval by the Editor.
LateX files of papers that have been accepted for publication may be sent to the Publisher by e-mail or on a diskette (3.5" or 5.25" MS-DOS). If the file is suitable, proofs will be produced without rekeying the text. The article should be encoded in ESP-LaTeX, standard LaTeX, or AMS-LaTeX (in document style "article"). The ESP-LaTeX package, together with instructions on how to prepare a file, is available from the Publisher. The styles are also available on the Comprehensive Tex Archive Network (CTAN) at sites at U.S.A., United Kingdom and Germany.
Available are a LaTeX2e class file, a LaTeX2.09 style file
and instruction in dvi format, ps format and
pdf format (please use a double spaced line distance).
For MS-Word, a template with instructions is supplied.

Instructions to Authors: Manuscript preparation of the NON-REFEREED part of the proceedings
Format manuscripts
For the non-refereed part, 2 copies of the paper are required as well as on disk a postscript or PDF-file as well as the source LaTeX or Word file. In case of a word file, the figures should be given separately in addition to the figures included in the text.
Electronic manuscripts
A disk containing the electronic version of the manuscript should be submitted together with the hard copies of the text with figures integrated in the text. It is the responsibility of the authors to ensure that the version on disk exactly matches the hard copies. Please label the disk with your name, and mention which word processor you have used.
Available are a LaTeX2e class file and instructions.
For MS-Word, a template with instructions is supplied.
Instructions to Authors: Manuscript preparation for the WWW
For the WWW, a postscript or '*.pdf' version as well as the source file is needed on a floppy disk. The paper (either two page camera-ready extended synopsis or the four page NIMA contribution) is put on the WWW in the form in which it is received. If you submitted a four page paper with the requirements given by Elsevier, the WWW version will also have figures, tables etc at the end of the paper. If you wish the figures and tables to be integrated in the text, you have to supply one version for Elsevier and one for the WWW (in this case including one hardcopy in the WWW format) . You can use the LaTeX (class-/style) or Word (template) files as mentioned above.
