DESY

How to get to DESY

By train:
leave the train at the ALTONA train station, the second stop after the main train station (Hauptbahnhof). You may then reach DESY by:
- Taxi:
  Travelling time ca. 15-20 minutes.
  Cost: ca. 13 Euros
- Bus:
  Metrobus 1 (direction Krankenhaus Rissen). The bus stop, (Zum Hünengrab / DESY), is at the entrance to the DESY grounds.
  Travelling time ca. 16 minutes.
  Cost: ca. 2 Euros
- S-Bahn: (local subway system)
  Line S1 or S11 (direction Blankenese / Wedel) to OTHMARSCHEN, then leave the station via the escalator exit
  and transfer to Metrobus 1 (direction Krankenhaus Rissen). The bus stop is on the opposite side of the road to the subway station.
  Get off the bus at the bus stop Zum Hünengrab / DESY, which is at the entrance to the DESY grounds.
  Travelling time: ca. 10 minutes.
  Cost: ca. 2 Euros.
By plane:
From the Hamburg airport "Fuhlsbüttel" you have two possibilities:
- Taxi:
  Travelling time ca. 40 - 50 minutes.
  Cost ca. 25 Euros
- Bus:
  110 Airport Express to OHLSDORF S-Bahn Station.
  Line S1 or S11 to OTHMARSCHEN (direct route).
  From Othmarschen, as above.
  Travelling time: ca. 1.5 hours.
  Cost: ca. 2 Euros
By car:
- Exit the Autobahn A7 at HH-BAHRENFELD
  - Arriving in Hamburg from the SOUTH:
    Turn LEFT onto the main road (Osdorfer Landstrasse).
  - Arriving in Hamburg from the NORTH:
    Turn RIGHT onto the main road (Osdorfer Landstrasse).
- Make a RIGHT TURN onto NOTKESTRAßE (1st traffic light after the BP Petrol Station).
- The entrance to DESY is the second road on the LEFT.
- or upon leaving the Autobahn, just follow the signs to DESY
or, walk to DESY:
- Leave the S-Bahn station OTHMARSCHEN at the Waitzstraße exit, turn right at the bottom of the stairs, turn left onto Waitzstraße, right onto Gross Flottbeker Straße and follow that road direct to DESY! It takes ca. 25 minutes and is both interesting and healthy!!
