DESY at the Hannover Messe 2018

Presentation of technology solutions from basic research for industry

On Monday, the Hannover Messe, the world's leading trade fair for industry, has opened its doors and expects 220,000 visitors by the end of this week. DESY again is represented among the 5000 exhibitors. At the joint stand of Hamburg Invest (Hall 2, Stand A26), various exhibitors from research and industry will present technology solutions for industrial applications on a total of 120 square metres under the heading "Future Hamburg".

Among other things, DESY is presenting the superconducting accelerator technology, that is also used in the X-ray laser European XFEL, which is also one of the exhibitors. In addition, access possibilities for the industry to DESY's large-scale research facilities for structural research are presented. Presentations provide an insight into cutting-edge research, technology transfer and innovation services at DESY, and the research centre presents itself as an employer.

The Hamburg stand was officially opened by Economics Senator Frank Horch, who highlighted the innovative strength of the regional research institutes: "Innovations and technology transfer are the guarantors of a location's future viability. We have an excellent infrastructure in Hamburg with international key players from science and business. We offer scientists, founders and young and established companies the best conditions for exchange, networking and transfer".

Other co-exhibitors at the joint stand are the European XFEL GmbH, the Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology IME ScreeningPort, the Fraunhofer Center for Maritime Logistics and Services CML, Fraunhofer Institute for Additive Production Technologies IAPT, Hamburg Innovation GmbH, Hamburg Invest, Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg), Orokoko GmbH, Hamburg Technical University TUHH and ZAL Zentrum für Angewandte Luftfahrtforschung GmbH.
