Start of EUDET Project

The start of the European Union funded EUDET project is marked by a three-day Kick-off Meeting at DESY on February 15 to 17. EUDET is a project coordinated by DESY, with the participation of 31 European institutes and 20 international associates. The goal is to improve the European infrastructure for future accelerators’ detector development. Apart from the support for the simulation and analysis software, there are plans to facilitate tests at larger prototypes of detector sections. In this regard the development of detector components for the International Linear Collider ILC plays the most important role. The EUDET project is assessed for four years with a total of 21 million Euros, 7 millions to be funded by the EU.

Approx. 100 participants are expected to join the Kick-off Workshop, establishing the research program for the coming months.
