String Theory Seminar

Affine Gaudin models and integrable coupled sigma-models

Sylvain Lacroix (Hamburg University)

In this seminar, we will discuss integrable sigma-models and their relation to the so-called affine Gaudin models. We will start by reviewing the Lax formalism of classical two-dimensional integrable field theories through the example of integrable sigma models. We will then introduce the notion of affine Gaudin models and explain how they form a large class of integrable field theories which in particular contains all known integrable sigma-models. Based on this result, we will show how to use this formalism as a machinery to generate new integrable field theories by coupling an arbitrary number of integrable sigma-models.
