   Short description of the project the student should work on  :

   The student will participate in a project dealing with a new technique
   for polishing of the inside surface of niobium superconducting
   radiofrequency (SRF) cavities using Centrifugal Barrel Polishing
   (CBP) machine. This is a mechanical polishing technique providing
   mirror-like finishes with <15nm RMS roughness over 1 mm2.
   The work will include participation in processing of 9-cell
   SRF cavities, optimization and future development of the polishing
   recipes as well as theoretical understanding of the polishing 
   procedure.
