   Short description of the project the student should work on  :

Optimization of granularity requirements for electromagnetic calorimetry at future linear colliders. For future collider experiments highly-granular electromagnetic calorimetry is required to achieve the desired detector performance. In this project several granularities should be simulated and tested with the existing software framework. Additionally, extremely fine segmentations achievable with vertex detector technologies will be evaluated. The performance differences should be studied and the results should allow the determination of an optimal granularity for the electromagnetic calorimeter.
