   Short description of the project the student should work on  :

The DESY FLC group develops a readout module for the Large Prototype, a
TPC prototype that is operated in a 1 T magnet at our own DESY test beam facility.
In summer 2012 a third test beam campaign with the third design
iteration is foreseen. The student will participate in the completion of the module assembly, as well as the commissioning and testing.
An active participation in the test beam effort itself is also planned.
Furthermore, the student can partake in the analysis of the module data,
depending on the interests.

   Physics / Computing/ Engineering  Content of the project :

The work to be done will mostly contain laboratory work, such as measurements in the electronics laboratory and possibly beam tests at DESY. Additionally the data has to be analysed, which includes basic programming with ROOT.

  Special Qualifications expected from the student ( Computing,...) :

Some Basic C++/ROOT experience is useful. Experience with Labview or similar programs, as well as fundamental knowledge in electronics would be helpful.
