   Short description of the project the student should work on  :

   The DESY FLC group operates a test beam facility with a superconducting
magnet and large TPC prototype setup within the LCTPC collaboration.
The goal of the collaboration is the development for a TPC as the main tracking detector for a detector at the future Linear Collider.
Calibration and alignment play a crucial role in the analysis of the
results.
The student will work on the operation of the test setup, study and operate different alignment systems, and participate in the ongoing analysis projects.

   Physics / Computing/ Engineering  Content of the project :

The work to be done will mostly contain laboratory work, such as measurements in the electronics laboratory and possibly beam tests at DESY. Additionally the data has to be analysed, which includes basic programming with ROOT.

  Special Qualifications expected from the student ( Computing,...) :

  Basic C++/ROOT experience is useful. Experience with Labview or similar programs, as well as fundamental knowledge in electronics would be helpful.
