    Short description of the project the student should work on  :

    Tests of pixelated readout of gaseous detectors (small test detector(s)
    and Large Prototype Time Projection Chamber) at DESY testbeam and analysis
    of recorded data. Focus can be more on the hardware side or on the data
    analysis side of the project, depending on the interest and skills of the
    student.

    Physics / Computing/ Engineering  Content of the project :

    This detector R&D is aimed at large tracking detector for an experiment
    at the future International Linear Collider. The detector is/will be
    prepared at NIKHEF and CEA Saclay.

    The data analysis will be done using Root.

   Special Qualifications expected from the student ( Computing,...) :

   Some affinity with particle physics detectors and some experience with
   C++ and the Root package would be appreciated.
