   Short description of the project the student should work on  :

Title: Development of test procedures for CMS pixel modules

DESY will produce modules for the upgrade of the CMS pixel detector.
Extensive tests of silicon sensors, CMOS readout chips, and complete
modules have to be performed after each production step to ensure
high quality. With 66'560 pixels per module and 350 modules, testing
speed and and data management are an issue. The test procedures are
being developed now and a student with interest in computer-based
hardware testing could contribute here. Knowledge of C++ and Unix
are an asset.
