  Short description of the project the student should work on  :


  Tuning of Pythia8

  The ATLAS data measured to-date provide a wealth of information to
  compare and tune soft QCD models such as multi-parton interaction
  and intrinsic kt of the partons within the proton. Extensive work by
  the experiments went into tuning of pythia6 - the generator mostly
  used at hadron colliders until now. Pythia8 is the successor of
  pythia6 with further developed models. The idea is to tune the soft
  QCD models in pythia8 to the available ATLAS data using the rivet
  and professor framework.
