General hints Possibilities to determine a DFG key for equipment groups Pre-assignment of a key text (recommended procedure) Pre-assignment of a key text (previous procedure) Pre-assignment of a DFG key Additional hints concerning the use of wildcards, and capitalization Additional hints concerning the choice of options Pre-assignment of sort criteria Treatment of search text Examples
When using the WWW-Interface in order to find DFG key texts and corresponding
DFG keys, keep in mind that entries for key texts are in german language
(at least for the moment). I.e. key texts may contain special
german characters
("ä","ö","ü","ß","Ä","Ö","Ü").
Further keep in mind that the key text always denotes the plural of the
term specifying the equipment.
In order to provide a better survey, not only equipment groups -- but
also main- and upper groups assiciated with equipment groups -- are
included in the data.
Main- and upper groups may be identified by their DFG key entries
containing wildcard "-".
In this context, DFG key "2--" refers to main group "2--"
of upper groups "20-", "21-", ..., "29-"; corresponding to
equipment groups 200-299.
(Here, "21-" denotes the upper group of equipment groups 210-219.)
Of course, the texts for main and upper groups are
too inaccurate for classification of equipment;
i.e. always the DFG keys of equipment groups itself MUST be used
in the DESY procurement procedure!
By making use of pre-defined options ('Sort by DFG key' and 'Search criteria
automatically enclosed in wildcard')
you can enter a character string in field Key text
and press the 'Submit query'-button,
in order to search for key texts and corresponding DFG keys
(respectively for texts of main und upper groups).
As a result, all DFG key entries (and possibly entries for main and
upper groups) containing the pre-assigned character string are displayed!
(The character string may contain wildcards (see below).
As far as a german keyboard is available, this is no longer necessary.
E.g. the term "hämmer" may directly be pre-assigned in order
to search for "Abbruchhämmer", "Fallhämmer" etc.)
In order to proceed in the derivation of a unique DFG key,
you can select a line (a DFG key,
as far as no main or upper group is denoted)
in the resulting list by mouse click and use
it in a successive search
(which is again started by pressing the "Submit Query"-
button). Thereby a COMPLETE
list of all entries corresponding to the SAME
DFG-Key is obtained. You'll have to
decide by yourself whether your equipment
fits the displayed equipment group, or not (see below,
Examples).
When jumping back to the first list, this
method could be repeated several
times.
By making use of option 'Search criteria as pre-assigned'
(which has to be chosen explicitly)
you can access the previous search procedure (although meanwhile
the search string may contain special german characters!).
On the one hand, this gives the opportunity to check
the existence of a special
term without using wildcards; e.g. to search for
the distinct term "Fräsen"
(milling machines).
(This is NOT recommended because usually several terms occur
in the key text; that is why the distinct term could NOT be found
in that case.)
On the other hand, the use of wildcards with this option
allows to definitely pre-assign the beginning or ending
of resulting text entries. (E.g. pre-assignment
of "a*" leads to all text entries starting with letter "a",
which may be useful in order to get some better survey.)
Especially in this procedure
the search will not
reveal unique results in most cases; rather a list of ALL key
texts (and corresponding DFG keys) matching
the pre-assigned key text is obtained.
In order to proceed in the derivation of a unique DFG key,
you can then (once again) select a line (a DFG key,
as far as no main or upper group is denoted)
in the resulting list by mouse click and use
it in a successive search
(which is once again started by pressing the 'Submit Query'-
button). Thereby a COMPLETE
list of all entries corresponding to the SAME
DFG Key is obtained. You'll have to
decide by yourself whether your equipment
fits the displayed equipment group, or not (see below,
Examples).
When jumping back to the first list, this
method could be repeated several
times.
You can enter a DFG-Key (like, e.g., "000", "123", etc.)
and press the 'Submit Query'-button
to get a list of all key texts and DESY
specific synonyms corresponding to the
specified key. The entry has to supply
3 digits if no wildcards are included (see below).
This procedure is only recommended in the further derivation of a
DFG key
when the pre-assignment of a character string has not been
successful.
In that case it is useful to get some better survey
of generally available entries
by means of several displayed equipment groups,
perhaps main and upper groups
(see below, Examples).
Query results are case insensitive.
(Pre-assignment of option 'Search criteria automatically
enclosed in wildcard'.)
(For non-existing entry related to Search text,
proceed as explained in the
example for possible DFG key
determination)

General hints
Possibilities to determine a DFG key for equipment groups
The following possibilities to determine a DFG key are supplied:
Additional hints concerning the use of
wildcards, and capitalization
In order to achieve fragmentational
entries of DFG keys and key texts as search
criteria, the use of wildcards is supported.
Use "*" to substitute character strings and "?" to substitute
single characters.
PLEASE: Use wildcard "?" to substitute
special german characters
(Ä,ä,Ö,ö,Ü,ü,ß)
when querying the database, IF no german keyboard is
available!
Additional hints concerning the
choice of options
Examples:
Example for the recommended procedure to search a DFG key
under pre-assignment of a key text:
For existing entry related to Search text,
the most favorable case would be to directly achieve
the corresponding DFG key.
But in case of an uncertain determination, one has to make sure,
that the searched term fits
the remaining entries for the equipment group.
This is done with a consecutive query.
(Attention: main and upper groups, i.e. entries of the form
"1--" or "11-" in DFG key, may NOT be detailed by this procedure.)
For existing entry related to Search text, the most favorable
case would be to directly achieve the corresponding DFG key.
But in case of an uncertain derivation, one has again to make sure that
the searched term fits the remaining entries for the equipment group.
This is again done with a consecutive query.
(For non-existing entry related to Search text, proceed as explained
in the
example for possible DFG key
determination)

equipment on the basis of the available
equipment groups or if you like to
make suggestions concerning the consideration
of DESY specific synonyms, please send a mail to the
