A (T. M.): Our wire contamination did not return to the vapor phase. It came off in the form of hardened shards up to a centimeter in length. The shards fell to the bottom of the chambers and we haven't seen any effect of their existance. After zapping we let the chambers purge for several volume changes in case some noxious vapor was created. We have one chamber with a dark current, but the current is decreasing with time, so we are not sure what is causing it.
A (T. M.): In proportional mode.
A (T. M.): Yes, we stuffed a test chamber with Glas-Steel and tested it with a source. The chamber worked fine after one year. We should have run at a much higher rate, or higher voltage to produce more charge. We had no idea the background radiation would be so high.
