Accelerator Physics
Reinhard Brinkmann began working at DESY in 1984. From the end of the 80s to the mid-90s he was machine coordinator for the HERA electron ring and decisively contributed to the successful and rapid commissioning of this highly complex facility. In 1995, he was appointed lead scientist for accelerator research at DESY. He also played a major role in the concept of the superconducting linear collider TESLA and in the editing of the "TESLA Technical Design Report", which was published in March 2001. In 2003, Reinhard Brinkmann became project leader for the preparation of the Euorpean XFEL project at DESY. From 2007 to 2018, he was Director for the Accelerator Division. Today, Reinhard Brinkmann is Senior Advisor for the diffraction limited storage ring light source PETRA IV and researches novel accelerator concepts.
