What's new? -- since Feb.98...

Feb-Mar.99
A new version of GPFC main board (V3) has been produced in a small series of 30 by the DESY electronic workshop -- currently under testing.
This version is fully compatible with the V2 main board version except the GPFC extension connector -- this connector (pin assignment) has been redesigned to provide more functionality for GPFC extension boards. Also, the PCB routing has been advanced.

The first GPFC extension board prototype has been sucessfully tested. This board provides the following resources:
-- 2 IP slots
-- 24 MB DRAM pool (32 bit port, 60 ns)
-- 2 MB FLASH pool (32 bit port, 90 ns (min 55 ns) )

A small series of 10 gpfc@SEDAC devices has been produced (DESY electronic workshop) and sucessfully tested.
See the item dated 5.Nov.98 below

6.Nov.98
GPFC/SEDAC GPFC/SEDAC crate controller is successfuly tested with EPICS IOC and a newly developed SEDAC_BP device support and SEDAC_BP driver.

GPFC/SEDAC

DESY workshop has started with producing a small series of GPFC/SEDAC crate controller module (V3). Module has been redesigned to allow changeable communication interfaces (actually media transceiver sub-modules) for Ethernet in addition to previously supported CAN and Profibus. Other communication interfaces can be supported as well with this new module layout.

3.Nov.98
GPFC standalone A small series of GPFC utility board equipped with a front panel received from the DESY workshop. This allows to install 10 standalone GPFC packages. See info from 22.May.98 about the prototype.

3.Nov.98
GPFC extension board The first GPFC extension board is completed with CAD design. Its main purpose is to add more IndustryPack slots and extend GPFC memory resources. The two-board GPFC stack will have 4 IndustryPack slots and 28 MB DRAM (+ 2.5 MB FLASH).

Prototype is expected to be produced and tested in December.

25.May.98
GPFC/SEDAC pilot application The first GPFC application came into being: CAN/SEDAC crate controller. A simple software application emulates a non-intelligent CAN module which periodically bursts the data acquired from the temperature measurement SEDAC module...

22.May.98
GPFC standalone The first prototype of a standalone GPFC assembled and put into operation. It is a 3U eurocrate with the following modules installed: power supply, GPFC control panel, GPFC itself, Ethernet transition module. These modules (including the one carrying power mains switch) occupy less than a half of crate space.

11.May.98
GPFC V2 runs EPICS EPICS IOC ported to the GPFC V2 and successfully tested with a simple database.

12.Apr.98
VxWorks + Ethernet VxWorks has been successfully downloaded via Ethernet and started on the GPFC V2 board.

26.Mar.98
CDI/CAN driver works... CDI/CAN driver has been tested with real CAN hardware (GPFC V1).

25.Mar.98
SEDAC carrier SEDAC carrier has been successfully tested with the GPFC V2 board installed. It runs a standalone VxWorks from EPROM.

9.Mar.98
GPFC V2 runs VxWorks VxWorks is running on GPFC V2 (from EPROM).

mid.Feb.98
GPFC V2 is ready for testing Two GPFC V2 boards are ready for testing.

9.Jan.98
GPFC V2 PCB A small series (10 pcs) of GPFC V2 PCB produced.
