Constrained Least Squares

Constrained fits are an alternative to the standard chi-square minimization methods, used in particle physics. The construction of the chi-square function in complex cases with correlated data and systematic uncertainties becomes difficult, if the bias of the fit should be small. A more general alternative are least squares fits with equality constraints, where the relations between the data, their uncertainties, and the model expectation are simple and clear.
