First Announcement

Many widely known scientists from the former USSR in the field of particle theory attended lectures at ITEP (Institute for Theoretical and Experimental Physics) during the period of their education. Among them: A.A.Belavin, E.B.Bogomolny, A.A.Migdal, A.M.Polyakov, M.A.Shifman, M.B.Voloshin, Alexander B. Zamolodchikov, Alexey B. Zamolodchikov. The idea of ASIPT-99 is to provide intensive courses as a continuation of the traditions of the ITEP educational system. 7 days of 3 lecture courses are planned (25 February - 4 March, 1999; 28 February, Sunday is excluded); each course consisting of (approximately) 7 academic hours (60 min.) of lectures and 7 academic hours of seminars (solving problems). The exams (optional) are planned on 5 and 6 of March 1999, every participant who passes at least 2 exams will receive a special certificate from the Russian Ministry of Science.

The lectures are generally intended for graduate students and postdocs, but all participants are welcome.

Living expenses (including School fee, but without travel expenses) are estimated to be $500-$700.

The ITEP School on Particle Theory (ASIPT-99) will be held just after another traditional ITEP school -- XXVII ITEP Winter School of Physics (mirror). We encourage you to participate in it also.
