H1 Desktop Computing Support

H1 desktop computing is based on DESY standard PC hardware. The default operating system is DESY Linux, based on the SuSE Linux distribution. See the DESY Linux Page for the current version and details. Only for special purpose the WindowsNT operating system is used.

In addition to the desktop PCs centrally installed Work Group Servers (WGS) based on dual processor PCs are available for remote login. Central file service based on SGI/Origin hardware as well as DELFI systems is provided.

For batch processing dedicated PC farms are available.
