DESY's EXPO2000 exhibition hall
DESY is hosting an exhibition called "Light for the New Millenium", which runs from June 1 to Oktober 31. The hall on the picture is where the exibition takes place. It is an external project of the word exhibition EXPO2000.

The exhibit is meant to give the general public an impression of high energy physics, of physics with synchroton radiation, and of the work at DESY. There are explanations of elementary particle physics, geared towards a general public, backed up by actual hardware from experiments. Highlights are a working cloud chamber -- which always fascinates -- and a roughly 100m long stretch of the TESLA tunnel, where the visitor can see and learn about accelerators in general and TESLA in particular.

Throughout the opening hours physics students are always in the exhibition to
help the visitor, to help with the exhibits, or to simply talk to the interested people. In addition guided tours of the exhibit are available.
During the five months around 106.000 people have visited the exhibit --starting from small children, to the very old, from Hamburg and from further away.

More information about the exhibition, the daily program, and the latest news can found on the  DESY EXPO homepage
