From: Jerzy Wasniewski Subject: Workshop on Parallel Scientific Computing in Denmark Date: Tue, 11 Jan 1994 13:54:54 +0100 (MET) FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT CALL FOR PAPERS WORKSHOP ON PARALLEL SCIENTIFIC COMPUTING organised by: UNI*C (The Danish Computing Centre for Research and Education), IMM (The Institute for Mathematical Modelling of the Technical University of Denmark) and Jack Dongarra Dates: June 20, 1994 - Tutorial on heterogeneous network computing June 21 - 23, 1994 - Workshop sessions Place: UNI*C, The Danish Computing Centre for Research and Education, The Technical University of Denmark, Bldg. 304, 2800 Lyngby, DENMARK Recent results on efficient and fast methods for high speed computers will be discussed at this workshop. The use of these methods in connection with big application packages will also be treated. Finally, the use of scalable libraries will be of particular interest. The workshop will be preceeded by a one-day tutorial devoted to tools for heterogeneous network computing, where Jack Dongarra will be the main lecturer. The main purpose of this workshop is to bring together scientists working with large computational problems and specialists in the field of parallel methods and efficient exploitation of modern high-speed computers. Some classes of numerical methods appear again and again during the numerical treatment of many problems in different fields of science and engineering. The aim of this workshop is to select some of these numerical methods and plan further experiments on several types of parallel computers. The key lectures will show an overview of different parallel and vector computers. They will review the most important numerical algorithms and scientific applications on parallel computers. Some of the key speakers are: Jack Dongarra, Tennessee University, USA Iain Duff, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, England Len Freeman, University of Manchester, England Al Geist, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA Svend Hammarling, Numerical Algorithms Group, England Per Christian Hansen, The Danish Computing Centre, Denmark Bill Harrod, Cray Research, USA Axel Hunding, University of Copenhagen, Denmark Kaj Madsen, Technical University of Denmark, Denmark John Perram, University of Odense, Denmark Robert Schreiber, NASA, USA Stig Skelboe, The Danish Computing Centre, Denmark Zahari Zlatev, The Air Pollution Department, Denmark A limited number of contributed 20 min. talks will be selected for the workshop. Poster sessions will also be organised. Potential contributors should notice the following deadlines. Abstracts no more than one A4 page (talks and posters) by April 30, 1994. Papers between 5 and 10 pages for conference proceedings by May 15, 1994. A program with the key lectures will be announced in NA-NET as early as possible. A program with the talks at the workshop will be sent to the participants in the beginning of June. All the workshop information will be distributed by the mailing list of para94-l@vm.uni-c.dk To subscribe send a message to listserv@vm.uni-c.dk containing sub para94-l Yourname Registration fees: 3 day workshop 700 DKK (DKK = Danish Kroner), before May 31, 1994. This includes the cost of 3 lunches, morning and afternoon coffee or tea, soft drinks, reception, a bus tour from the conference place to Copenhagen and the conference proceedings. 1 day tutorial 300 DKK (DKK = Danish Kroner), before May 31, 1994. This includes the cost of 1 lunch, morning and afternoon coffee or tea, soft drinks, and the tutorial proceedings. Registration fee must be paid by cheque. If the cheque is sent in another currency than the Danish Kroner it must of include the exchange cost which is 50 DKK for all combination costs 300, 700 or 1000 DKK. 1 American Dollar is approximatly 7 DKK. The cheques for the workshop and tutorial should be payable to the "WORKSHOP ON PARALLEL SCIENTIFIC COMPUTING" and it should be sent to the address: WORKSHOP ON PARALLEL SCIENTIFIC COMPUTING UNI*C, DTH, Bldg. 304 2800 Lyngby, Denmark Attn: Jerzy Wasniewski Email: workshop@uni-c.dk Fax: (+45) 45 93 02 20 Tel: (+45) 42 88 39 99 + 2426 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: unijw@fysik.uni-c.dk> Subject: Workshop on Parallel Scientific Computing in Denmark Date: Thu, 28 Apr 1994 14:26:51 +0200 (MET DST) SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT THE CALL FOR PAPERS WORKSHOP ON PARALLEL SCIENTIFIC COMPUTING organised by: UNI*C (The Danish Computing Centre for Research and Education), IMM (The Institute for Mathematical Modelling of the Technical University of Denmark) and Jack Dongarra (Tennessee University & Oak Ridge Nat.
