- Following are the main features:
- - A product which is based on single inheritance classes or
multiple inheritance classes, depending on how you use it.
Subclasses controls from resource info at run-time, supports
Windows GDI, can set generic event handlers for buttons, menu
selections, listboxes, just about all control objects.
- - 150 object classes encapsulate Menus, Fonts, Graphics, Bitmaps,
MDI, Printing, Memory Management, Forms, Dialogs, Windows,
Controls, Fonts, Brushes, Pens, Clipboards, and much. Current
purchasers are entitled to a free upgrade to zApp 2.0 and a free
copy of the zApp Interface Pack, when they ship.
- - zApp is a class library and not a screen painter. zApp is,
however, supported by a screen designer called Object Designer
that is published by Imagesoft. Phone number is 1-800-245-8840
or 516-767-2233. Other vendors will likely soon be adding
support for zApp into their products as well.
- - zApp 2.0 has been in beta for quite a while now and will
probably be available by the time you read this. 2.0 contains
several exciting new features, including support for object
persistence, DDE, enhanced forms support with automatic and
flexible data validation (built-in integer, floating point,
date, time, currency, and other format validation, plus
user-specifiable printf-like picture strings for custom format
validation), advanced scrolling support that makes scrolling as
few as 3 lines of code, a suite of resizing object classes (that
enable objects to easily stick to the top, or left, or right, or
bottom of a window, or stay centered, or grow proportional to
their parent, etc.), support for common os-shared dialogs,
clipboard support with metafiles, plus more.
- - On-line help in Win-help format under Windows, and a much
improved reference manual and tutorial guide. The reference
manual is now roughly 700-800 pages long, and the tutorial
guide is in the hundreds as well.
- - The zApp Interface Pack includes a spreadsheet-like table object
with a variety of cell types that allows the programmer to
easily display textual, numerical and image data in a matrix
format. The programmer has complete control over individual
cell attributes such as numerical formatting, width and height,
and can create new cell types using inheritance mechanisms. It
also provides classes for the creation of visually appealing
toolbars and status lines with the new 3-D look. A whole host
of custom controls, all with the 3-D look, are also provided
including frames, panels, static text, radio buttons, check
boxes and push buttons.
