SPEED MACHINES - DESY develops, constructs and operates particle accelerators

DESY was founded more than 50 years ago as a national particle physics laboratory. Today, it is one of the world’s most important centres for particle physics and research with X-ray radiation. DESY owes this success mainly to its accelerators – the highly complex machines that enable DESY to conduct cutting-edge research. The accelerator division consequently has the highest number of staff at DESY. All in all, around 600 people work here on accelerator development, construction and operation.
