Honorary Doctorate for Albrecht Wagner – Slovak Academy of Sciences honours DESY Director
The Chairman of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Prof. Stefan Luby, presents the honorary doctorate certificate to Albrecht Wagner.
On 21 November, the Chairman of the DESY Directorate Prof. Albrecht Wagner was awarded the honorary doctorate of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. He received this distinction for his scientific work and for his long-standing support of the German-Slovak cooperation in the field of natural sciences.
On behalf of the Scientific Council, the President of the Academy, Prof. Stefan Luby, awarded Albrecht Wagner the title “Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences honoris causa”.
For many years several Slovak institutes do research at DESY. In particular, the Institute of Experimental Physics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Kosice is participating in the H1 experiment for 20 years. As for the future, Slovakia plans to become a member of the XFEL GmbH and to expand the collaboration with DESY in the field of research with photons.
