30.01.2024 / 17:30 - 19:00 / Hamburg, DESY Hamburg

Podiumsdiskussion / Panel Discussion

MADE IN EU: HOW CAN HAMBURG CONTRIBUTE TO EUROPE'S TECHNOLOGICAL SOVEREIGNTY?

Using the work of DESY as an example, we want to talk about Hamburg as a research centre and its contribution to Europe's technological sovereignty. Together with you and our panellists, we want to explore the questions of why technological sovereignty is important and why protectionism is (once again) an issue. We want to identify location factors at state, federal and EU level and discuss which factors favour or hinder innovation and transfer. The panellists include Hamburg's Second Mayor and Senator for Science and Research Katharina Fegebank, Dr Malte Heyne from the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and Prof. Dr Helmut Dosch, Director of the German Electron Synchrotron (DESY).
