Panel discussion: Particle physics - huh? Highly complex for the general TV audience

Marius Hoffmann (DESY)

How do I explain highly complex science like particle physics to a broad TV audience? Katharina Finger, responsible editor for science documentaries on 3sat, Prof. Dr. Beate Heinemann, Director of Particle Physics at DESY / University of Hamburg, Dr. Axel Lindner, scientist at DESY, Prof. Dr. Christian Schwanenberger, Senior Scientist at DESY / University of Hamburg, and Ekki Wetzel, director and author, among others, discuss this topic. For decades, 3sat has been dedicated to the topic of research - e.g. on the programme slot "Wissen hoch 2" (Knowledge to the power of 2), where a documentary is presented every Thursday at 8.15 pm. This is also the case on 9.11.2023 with the 45-minute documentary that will be shown as an exclusive preview at the beginning of the event. The film deals with the work of C. Schwanenberger on the CMS experiment and A. Lindner on the ALPS experiment, as well as structural virologists, structural biologists and Egyptologists at CSSB and PETRA III, among others. The event will be broadcast live and recorded: https://desy.de/youtube
