Fermi acceleration in the high-energy Universe

Martin Lemoine

How particles are accelerated to high energies in relativistic astrophysical sources (e.g. pulsar winds, active galactic nuclei, gamma-ray bursts), represents a central question in modern high-energy and multi-messenger astrophysics. This talk will discuss recent developments in our understanding of particle acceleration in magnetized, turbulent flows, comparing analytical developments with first principle numerical simulations. In a second part, it will present new results regarding particle acceleration associated to the interaction of a magnetized, relativistic shock with a turbulent plasma.
