Minutes of HERA Meeting
05.08.2003
HERA
F.Willeke summarized HERA operation of last week.
- Some preliminary proton beam machine studies were performed last week.
Work on power supplies and interlock sets were finished during day time.
- Positron beam was stored on the weekend without problems. The timing
system was checked. Some problems were solved.
- A RF window of a superconducting cavities, which was exchanged
during the shutdown, got very hot. Possible actions are being discussed.
- This morning there was a failure of the water cooling system. A pump
failed. The electronics was damaged when the spare pump was switched on.
Repair is in progress.
- HERA will proceed with machine studies as scheduled.
- The H1 and ZEUS solenoids should still be off until the end of this week.
- 12 GeV beam bake-out will start the end of this week.
Parasitic studies will be performed during the bake-out. The
photon beam can be steered into the luminosity monitors if requested.
- Some stable positron beam at 27.5GeV was requested by the experiments
for timing studies and calibration. The date was not yet fixed.
The experiments
will be informed at least 2 days in advance.
- Stable positron beam for synchrotron background will be delivered
before 21.08.2003. A background task-force meeting will be scheduled
to discuss the details of the background studies.
- The positron beam dumps of the experiment should be enabled when the beam
is ramped to 27.5GeV.
- The HERA timing (HIT) system was modified significantly during the
shutdown. Documentation should be sent to the experiments.
