Minutes of HERA Meeting
05.02.2002
HERA
M.Bieler presented a preliminary schedule for the HERA activities of this
month, see new HERA schedule. The work on the interlock
system, which was foreseen in June, will now be done this month, i.e. the
May/June shutdown is now reduced from 6 to 3 weeks.
- The repair of the proton beam pipe in the straight section SR will
probably be finished on Friday.
- Positron beam operation will be continued during nights and on the weekend.
- Tonight: beam based alignment studies
- Tomorrow: implement new positron beam optics with reduced divergence
- Thursday day time: test moving bridge NR
- Weekend: first polarization studies. Rotators North and South flat,
rotator East not flat, longitudinal polarimeter will be on, H1 and
ZEUS solenoids have to be off, maximum positron current 2mA.
- Starting Monday work on HERA interlock. Installation of a new door (north
hall to tunnel NL) and extensive interlock tests.
- Access and opening of detectors is possible on Monday and Tuesday.
Temporary access might be possible Wednesday to Friday, depending on the
work on the interlock system.
- Cool-down of the proton machine will start 11.02.2002
- Both machine should be ready for beam operation 23.02.2002
Beam base alignment studies were performed last week. Last night the
synchrotron radiation background in ZEUS was studied.
