Minutes of HERA Meeting
23.11.2004
HERA
M.Bieler summarized the HERA status:
- The machine studies are more or less on schedule.
There is some delay due to a network failure on the weekend. It took
about one day to recover.
- The defective GN magnet, which was removed in the north, has been
inspected.
So far there are no obvious signs for ground faults. Some copper drops
were found, indication that the temperature increased above 1000deg C
locally.
- Electron files were prepared with H1 and ZEUS solenoids on. The
solenoids should stay on. Proton ramp files will be prepared today.
- The new proton beam position monitor NR61 still has a leak at
the 10**-8 level. The present plan is to replace it during the
maintenance day 8.12.2004.
- The ground fault of the QQ (1st cold proton quadrupole east left) magnet
occurs during a fast ramp above 20A. It is fine at 40A when the
current is slowly ramped up. During operation the current is 17A.
The magnet is excluded from the standard cycling procedure.
A ground free power supply is in preparation.
ZEUS
- A ~4 hour break without beam was requested for calibration of the
calorimeter. A stable electron beam run will be useful for an
early check of the synchrotron radiation background conditions.
ZEUS
- A four hour break without beam was requested for calibration of the
calorimeter. A stable electron beam fill will be useful for an
early check of the synchrotron radiation background conditions.
H1
- Shifts will start next Monday. An expert from the lumi group is on call.
HERMES
- Shifts will start next Monday. Would like a short break of
beam operation.
Schedule
- Machine studies will be performed until 2.12.2004, see revised
schedule.
- In case there is no other interruption of beam operation, the four hour
break will be next Monday.
- The next maintenance day in Wednesday, 8.12.2004
