Minutes of HERA/Experiments Coordination
Meeting 04.03.2003
Startup after Shutdown
- F.Willeke presented a preliminary schedule for HERA operation
after the shutdown, see transparency.
The machine will start up 10.07.2003. Three weeks of beam bake-out
at 12GeV are presently foreseen to condition the vacuum. One
week is planned for polarization studies. Luminosity operation
is scheduled to start 15.09.2003.
The expected integrated luminosity is about 20pb-1
There was no objection to the schedule.
- The details of the start-up are not yet yet fixed.
Conditioning the interaction region vacuum by flushing the with hot
nitrogen is being considered.
- The wire alignment system will be repaired during the
shutdown. New wires will be installed. Beam based alignment will be
performed after the restart of beam operation. The tools
are available.
- Some background studies will be repeated after the shutdown. A
schedule will be prepared.
- It is not yet clear whether HERA B will continue data taking after
the shutdown, see transparency shown
by M.Medinnis. A final decision will be made until May.
The HERA B detector should be moved to the park position in case the
collaboration
decides not to continue data taking. Preparations for removal of the
vertex tank and central beam pipe will be made.
