Discussion on switching to electrons
HERA will startup with positron beam as scheduled.
The machine group would like to establish high luminosity operation before
switching to electrons.
ZEUS would like to take electron data as possible. The ZEUS proposal is to
switch to electrons during the Christmas shutdown.
The highest priority of H1 is high integrated luminosity with polarization and
to collect about 50 pb-1 before going to electrons.
HERMES and HERA B have no strong preference for electron or positron beams.
Their main interest is stable and good beam conditions.
There was a discussion whether one week of HERA operation with high luminosity
(about 4 10**31 cm-2 s-1) would be sufficient before switching to electrons.
The decision of the switch over date was postponed until the next meeting.
The next meeting is Monday, 19.11.2001 10:00hrs seminar room 1.
