  • Tuesday 17 July, 10:15-11:30, DESY auditorium building 5:
    Opening Session Welcome talk and personal Check-In with the DESY summerstudent team, please bring all the necessary documents mentioned in Administrative procedures with you.

  • Travel reimbursement: Please hand in the reimbursement sheet at the DESY travel department: C. Tornau, C. Schmirander bld 7/401 or S. Geisler bld 7/407, Opening hours: mo - th 08:00-12:30

  • Tuesday 17 July, 18:00 - 22:30, DESY Canteen Extension bld. 9:
    Welcome Reception with buffet and drinks

  • Wednesday 18 July at 11:15, stairs at entrance to foyer of DESY auditorium:
    A photo of the summer students will be taken after the first lecture.

  • Friday July 20, 17:30-18:30, bld. 1b, SR4 (see map):
    Start of German language course (voluntary, for interested persons).
    Classification and first steps: Friday july 20, 17:30-18:30
    Courses: July 23 - September 03, 2018
    Beginners: Monday 18:45-20:15; Advanced: Monday 18:45-20:15

  • Monday 23 July 14:00 - 16:00 and Tuesday 24 july 14:00 - 16:00:
    Guided tour around the DESY site; meeting point: Foyer DESY auditorium
    We will split, 50 students will attend on monday and 50 on tuesday.
    Please register by this friday for the monday tour and for the tuesday tour
    . Please take note: Students working in the DESY CMS group will particpate on monday and students in the DESY ATLAS group on tuesday and places have been already reserved accordingly, so those students please do not register in indico.

  • Tuesday 7 August 14:15-16:30 and Wednesday 8 August 14:15-16:30
    Guided tour around the XFEL site in Schenefeld (experimental halls):
    Further information will be provided by end of july.

  • Friday 17 August ~17:30-22:30
    Barbecue in canteen extension and terrace, sponsored by PIER
