If it's too long you can also end the tour at Niendorf and take a bus
to Timmendorfer Strand Bahnhof.

In Niendorf/Timmendorfer Strand and Scharbeutz there are nice
sandy beaches and you can swim.
For many parts of the beaches you have to pay an entrance fee of some 
euros, in Niendorf at 53.995144,10.811083
there is a free beach zone.

if you stop at the outward journey or during return.
