Abstract:
---------
Results from recent determinations of the strong coupling constant 
from the hadronic final state in deep-inelastic positron-proton 
scattering are reviewed. The strategies and basic methods are 
introduced and limitations of the different approaches are discussed.
The results are compared to those obtained in electron-positron
annihilations and in hadron-hadron collisions.
