First Results from the AMS Experiment in Space

The setup of the magnetic spectrometer AMS will be presented with 
special emphasis on the requirements of a space mission.
First results about proton-, electron-, positron-, He4- and He3-
spectra as function of the geomagnetic latitude will be discussed.
