The LHCb Experiment at CERN

Abstract
--------
The LHCb experiment is designed to make a thorough study of
CP violation  and other rare phenomena in the B-meson systems. 
It can fully exploit the large number of B-mesons produced at 
LHC from the beginning of the LHC operation. After exploring 
the physics justification of the experiment, some important
aspects of the detector design will be discussed.
