Current Developments in Data Analysis Software

The development of the ROOT system started at CERN 10 years ago.
In view of the LHC data taking in 2 years, the system is more
than ever under intensive development in the framework of the
LCG (LHC Computing Grid) project. In the talk, I will review the
major developments, in particular:
-New Math libraries (post CLHEP) are incorporated into the Core.
 -New minimisation algorithms.
-Convergence towards one single object dictionary.
-Consolidation of the detector geometry classes and visualisation.
-The Tree data storage sub-system has been upgraded to support
more C++ features, in particular complex use of STL collections.
-The PROOF (Parallel ROOT Facility) is currently being extended
to support asynchronous (batch) queries and take advantage of
  the GRID infrastructure.
