Michael Ernst: Federating Grid
Resources
Abstract:
There has been considerable confusion about the meaning and
ramifications
of federated grids. For the purposes of this talk, I refer
to
federated
grid resources as a cooperating group of computing facilities and
a
federated grid as the combination of those federated
resources.
There
has been the claim that federating grid resources overly
complicates
development. There has also been a lot of discussion about
the
appropriate time, if ever, to start considering forming grid
federations.
The talk is about one definition about what it means to form a
federated
grid and an argument that the time to start forming grid federations
is
now during the grid development period.
