A (J. M.): The Micromegas has higher gas gain than a single GEM with a similar geometry because there is very little electron loss. A single GEM+Micromegas is sufficient to achieve enough gas gain with low spark rates. Construction would be much simpler than triple GEMs.

A (J. M.): The mesh is made of metallized Kapton with copper clads. We take advantage of the lithography technique for metallized Kapton and a 50 micron gap is easily achievable. Metal meshes need dedicated spacers but the Kapton mesh has already built-in pillars in it.
